Behavior Change Procedures in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA)

Workshop Description: Behavior change procedures in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) are evidence-based strategies used to increase adaptive behaviors and decrease challenging behaviors across different settings.

In this workshop, we will focus on three key behavior change procedures:

  • Token Boards
  • Group Contingencies
  • Behavior Contracts

Participants will learn the purpose of each procedure, how and when to use it, and common mistakes to avoid. Real-life examples and case scenarios will be discussed to help translate theory into practice.

By the end of this workshop, participants will:

  • Understand how token boards can be used to reinforce appropriate behavior and increase motivation
  • Learn how group contingencies promote cooperation, peer accountability, and positive group behavior
  • Gain practical skills in designing and implementing behavior contracts to support behavior change through clear expectations and reinforcement
  • Be able to choose the most appropriate procedure based on the learner’s needs and setting

Please note: After finishing any workshop, you will get a certificate of completion from the (QABA) Qualified Applied Behavior Analysis Credentialing Board. If you are an ABA-T or QASP-S, you can get CEUs hours from these workshops!! ABA.byFATIMA is credentialed by the board to provide Continuing Education Units (CEUs).

From Bribery to Reinforcement

From Bribery to Reinforcement: Understanding Effective Behavior Change in ABA Workshop Description: This workshop focuses on clarifying the critical difference between bribery and reinforcement and explains why reinforcement is a core principle in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), while bribery often leads to ineffective and unsustainable behavior change. Participants will explore the vicious cycle created by bribery, how it impacts both the learner’s behavior and the adult’s response, and why reliance on bribery tends to escalate challenging behaviors over time. The workshop will also cover the concepts of preference and reinforcement, highlighting the distinction between preference assessments and reinforcement assessments. Participants will learn when and why each assessment is used, and how to select effective reinforcers based on data and context rather than assumptions. Learning Outcomes By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:
  • Differentiate clearly between bribery and reinforcement from a behavioral perspective
  • Explain why reinforcement is more effective than bribery for long-term behavior change
  • Identify the vicious cycle associated with bribery and learn strategies to break it
